As new treatments emerge, our objective was evaluate patient treatment preference for repeat transurethral resections tumor (TURBT) versus chemoablation examine associations between disease characteristics preference. METHODS: diagnosed NMIBC who had undergone one or more TURBTs were recruited via the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) Patient Survey (PSN) complete a web-based survey. The survey ascertained demographics clinical information. also addressed two hypothetical options, surgical therapy intravesical without surgery, reasons Bivariable multivariable analyses performed. RESULTS: A total 350 patients responded among whom 60% preferred TURBT 40% chemoablation. Predictors included United States (U.S.) residence (p=0.02), recent experience (p=0.03), high grade expressed priority recurrence risk (p <0.0001) (Figure). On analysis, likely prefer if U.S. resident (OR=2.03; 95% CI 1.03, 4.00) they over effectiveness (OR=15.5; 7.8, 30.5). CONCLUSIONS: When provided as option recurrence, significant proportion non-surgical conventional TURBT, commonly patients. well those in decision-making Source Funding: Funding Award © 2021 American Urological Association Education Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetails Volume 206Issue Supplement 3September 2021Page: e301-e302 Advertisement Copyright & Permissions© Inc.MetricsAuthor Information Expand Loading ...

Repeated transurethral resection for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
BACKGROUND transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) is the first-line treatment fornon-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. We aimed to investigate the effect of probable risk factors on the positive rate of the repeated transurethral resection of bladder tumor performed 4-6 weeks after an initial TURBT in patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer in China. METHODS 134 patients with...
متن کاملContinuous saline bladder irrigation after transurethral resection is a prophylactic treatment choice for non-muscle invasive bladder tumor.
BACKGROUND Instillation of chemotherapy after transurethral resection (TUR) has been considered as an optimal treatment for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). However, controversy remains regarding the role of chemotherapy instillation. We therefore evaluated the usefulness of continuous saline bladder irrigation (CSBI) after TUR. PATIENTS AND METHODS Patients with intermediate risk ...

Ta tumors — Ta tumors are noninvasive papillary lesions that are confined to the urothelium and have not penetrated the basement membrane. These papillary tumors usually present as low-grade lesions that frequently recur multiple times prior to becoming invasive. The natural history of patients with Ta tumors without other evidence of invasive disease or Tis was illustrated by a retrospective s...
متن کاملUpdate on early instillation of chemotherapy after transurethral resection of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer.
INTRODUCTION Non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) is a highly recurrent disease. Early bladder chemotherapy instillation (EBCI) after transurethral resection (TURB) is an efficient way to diminish recurrence. However, this method is often challenged. Areas covered: There was a recent publication of a large meta-analysis with the original patient data and the largest study ever on EBCI. Bo...
متن کاملMultivariate Analysis of the Prognostic Significance of Resection Weight after Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor for Non-Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer
PURPOSE Tumor size and multiplicity are known to be important prognostic factors in non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). However, evaluation of accurate tumor size is subjective and difficult. Furthermore, there are limitations to the objectification of tumor volume in the case of multiple lesions. In this study, we investigated the relation between resection weight after transurethral r...
